Career Women Are Far Healthier?

If there has been an assumption that a career woman has trouble in dividing time between work and family, you better think again. Scientists in the UK mentioned that with struggling with a career would make, a wife and mother stay healthy.

In a study of British women born in 1946, scientists found those with a number of roles, such as career women and housewives, or a single parent while working tend to have a health condition far better than those who merely just as stay-home mother.

Women who have just one role in life e.g. only a housewife or working woman who remains single, their general health condition declined quite significantly after reaching middle age.

“In a written statement of the woman who has two or more roles within the time frame long enough to have health conditions remain good at the time he reached the age of 54 years,” said Dr Anne McMunn of University College, London.

“Career women tend to have good general health conditions because they combine career and family in life,” said McMunn. McMunn and his team analyzed health reports of 2000 women aged 26 to 54 years and the association with weight loss. Besides also involve information on marital status, years of service and number of children they have, which are all published in the journal Epidemiology and Community Health.

The researchers found women who only perform a role as a housewife most of her life has a health condition that is far below the health standard, followed by a mother who only acts as a single parent and the latter are those who do not have kids or stay single.
Housewives tend to have excess weight faster with the average obesity rate of the most high, about 38 percent, while women play a role as wife, mother and career so little overweight.

McMunn said the truth had been known for a long time that women who combine multiple roles as a career woman and a housewife tend to have good health condition. But it remains unclear whether they work and raise a family because they are healthy or they are healthy because they combine the role as wife, mother and career as well. “There could be a big advantage or benefit provided for health for the long term with the ability to play a role in various fields in society,” said McMunn.
